Literacy Council of Tyler is the proud recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. This grant helps to support the 21 families in our Family Literacy Program at the Family Learning Center of Tyler.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2013, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation is proud to support initiatives that help others improve their lives through literacy and education. Since its inception in 1993, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded more than $81 million in grants to nonprofit organizations, helping more than 4.7 million individuals take their first steps toward literacy or continued education.

Literacy Council of Tyler is the proud recipient of a 2013 Women’s Fund grant of $30,000. This funding will be used for 30 women to complete their GED, complete Certified Nurse Aide Training, complete Computer Training and complete Interview Skills Training.
This program will empower 30 women to be ready for the workforce in 6-12 months with the training and credentialing necessary to become quickly employed. Thank you Women’s Fund for helping our female students. When you educate a woman, you educate a family.
