ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

• The Literacy Council of Tyler offers free literacy classes for adults at Douglas Elementary.
• The program includes adult education, early childhood education, parents and children learning together time and parent education.
  

WHO CAN ENROLL

• Parents with a child or children between the ages of 0 - 7 that live in the TISD area served by Douglas, Bonner and T.J. Austin elementary schools.
• Parents with a low level of adult literacy or of low English proficiency living at a low income level.
  

HOW TO ENROLL
Call 903-595-0012 to schedule an appointment for enrollment. The TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) or BEST (Basic English Skills Test) will be administered. A short interview will be conducted. This will take one to three hours to complete.
